Did you know the most a brain will ever grow is between birth and age five? It totally makes sense but is a mind-boggling fact! No wonder reading to children is so incredibly important! To keep our kids from getting used to the same books, I like to rotate books regularly and have different, seasonal titles to keep them interested as well.

Sandra Boynton board books are among our favorites of all time– especially the Pookie books! Spooky Pookie is a Halloween must-read for us!
Some of our perennial favorite books are from the “That’s Not My…” series! That’s Not My Witch, Bat, and Monster would all be great spooky choices for even the littlest readers! There are tactile patches on each page for a variety of sensory experiences!
You know I had to pick up Pumpkin Jack for my pumpkin Jack! I like that it incorporates some science and life cycles!
We have Biscuit books for pretty much every season, so I grabbed Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch for some continuity!
Jack loves the original Little Blue Truck so hopefully this Halloween version is a hit as well!
Trick or Treat Parakeet and Spider Queen’s Halloween are rhyming stories great for developing phonemic awareness! Plus there’s a QR code that will play an audio book reading of the text.
Jack goes nuts for “Pete Cat” and Trick or Pete and Five Little Pumpkins would go great in our collection.
And who could forget Room on the Broom? Jack loves lists and repeating details and loves pointing out familiar characters in this one!
