We were so happy to have my in-laws in town for Grace’s first birthday party! We hadn’t seen them in person since her baptism at three months old and were SO ready for some house guests! But, after a lengthy hiatus from hosting, our guest room needed a refresh!
I took some inspiration from a trend on TikTok and Reels and decided to refresh our guest room with some features that would make our house guests extra comfortable
- I have a few freebie magazine subscriptions, and when I get new issues, I pop them in the guest room!
- Providing WiFi information is pretty much a given these days. I even took it one step further and made a QR Code that automatically connects guests to our network! This has been great for the grandparents.
- Also great for the grandparents has been TV remote instructions!
- The bed and bedding set will likely soon be replaced with something more *my aesthetic* (LOL) but they’re comfortable and that’s what really matters. We have a memory foam mattress topper, and I wash our linens in Diva laundry detergent for an extra touch.
- Don’t forget to put out fresh towels in your guest bath, as well!
- A small, but very appreciated gesture, has been leaving a few snacks in the room with a carafe of fresh water. There’s nothing worse than discovering that you’re hungry or thirsty after you’ve said goodnight to your hosts!
In our guest bath I like to keep a glass jar of often-forgotten toiletries. Inside I have:
- travel toothbrushes
- toothpaste
- deodorant for men and women
- disposable razors
- individually-wrapped makeup wipes
- q-tips
- shampoo and conditioner
- floss picks
What are some things you have in your guest room to make overnight guests feel at home? Which of these ideas are your favorite?

Great ideas! We just bought our first house and now have a guest room! So these ideas really help me know what to include when getting it set up. Thanks!
